  1. Good day,

I wonder if you might be able to advise me as I cannot seem to find any information regarding my current situation.

I am South African and flew into Thailand on a Tourist visa on the 17th January. I received an extension from The Thailand immigration for another 30 days until the 15th April but then I flew to Kuala Lumpur on the 23rd March. I have a flight back to Don Mueng Airport on the 15th May and a flight back to South Africa on the 16th May which can be changed but this flight is from Bkk- Suvarnabhumi International Airport. I can possibly change the flights so that they are on the same day.

My worry is will I be allowed to travel from the one Airport to the next for the flight back to South Africa?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you
    Best regards
    Genevieve

    • Yes you will be allowed to enter Thailand from Kuala Lumpur and you will be given a new visa exemption stamp which is valid for 30 days.

    • Based on the information you’ve provided, since you have a hotel accommodation, return tickets and proof of financial capacity, then there should be no reason why you will not be issued a visa on arrival.

As I am unable to see the documents you submitted for the visa on arrival application, some items which may have led them to deny the application are the following:
      * Passport has less than 6 months validity
      * The return tickets are not within 15 days from the date of arrival
      * You were unable to provide documents to show that the applicant has sufficient funds in a bank account or cash on hand

Should you wish to file a complaint regarding this, you may contact the Thai consulate in Kolkata. Below are their details for your reference.

  3. Dear Thai Immigration,

I am a citizen of Germany holding a regular German passport and I would like to enter Thailand for 3 days as a tourist.

On the day of entry my passport will be valid for over 5 months but not for full 6 months.

Will I be allowed to enter Thailand with this passport? According to Timatic (the information system used by all airlines to check entry requirements) the passport only needs to be valid for the period of intended stay: https://www.timaticweb.com/cgi-bin/tim_website_client.cgi?SpecData=1&VISA=&page=visa&NA=DE&AR=00&PASSTYPES=PASS&DE=TH&user=KLMB2C&subuser=KLMB2C

However I’ve also found other information on different web sites stating that the passport needs to be valid for at least 6 months.

    Please advice.

    • As you hold a German passport, you are eligible to enter Thailand on visa exemption for a maximum of 30 days. Given this, your passport only needs to be valid for the period of your stay in Thailand.

The 6-month validity on a passport is a requirement if you apply for a visa prior to your trip to Thailand.
